Civicon is currently supporting the Summerhill Station Second Exit / Entrance Project, an important TTC infrastructure improvement designed to enhance passenger safety and emergency access along Toronto’s Line 1 subway network.
The project involves the construction of a new secondary entrance and exit at the southern end of Summerhill Station, providing an additional means of access and emergency egress for passengers.
The new infrastructure includes stairways, underground pedestrian connections and a passage beneath the existing subway tracks, connecting the station platforms to a new exit integrated with the surrounding development.
The project forms part of the TTC’s broader commitment to improving fire and life safety across its subway network.
Civicon’s Scope
Civicon is currently completing the concrete formwork scope associated with the new station infrastructure, contributing specialist construction expertise to this complex underground transit project.
Delivering formwork within an established subway environment presents unique challenges, including restricted access, constrained working areas, complex construction sequencing and interfaces with existing infrastructure.
Civicon’s team is working collaboratively with the wider project team to support the construction of the new facility, maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality workmanship, precision and effective coordination.
Our involvement demonstrates Civicon’s capability to deliver specialist concrete formwork packages within challenging urban environments, supporting critical infrastructure improvements while recognizing the operational requirements of Toronto’s transit network.
